Both clients support BitTorrent protocol encryption, which makes BitTorrent traffic harder to identify by third party. For example, you would use this if you were worried that your ISP was sniffing network traffic for peer-to-peer connections and possibly blocking it. KTorrent provides the same feature with the WebGUI plugin, which is included in the program by default. Both clients support Universal Plug and Play UPnP , which allow devices to connect seamlessly, meaning zero network configuration for user. BitTorrent clients need this for peer-to-peer transfers.

Both clients let you create your own torrents. However, KTorrent requires you to upload your torrent content to a torrent tracker before you can start seeding. By contrast, Azureus is capable of serving as its own tracker, allowing you to start seeding to users right away.

When I was using Azureus for a few hours at a time, my network connection would drop consistently, and before that, it was so slow it took my Web browser five minutes to open any Web page. I reconfigured Azureus to use UPnP and directly mapped ports on the router, but still saw the same problem. Azureus uses java and can become a massive memory hog after awhile where utorrent is standalone and is a small footprint and will use less memory.

I went to install the latest version of azures on my new laptop and it had all this extra crap attached to it so I said screw that.

Joined May 5, Messages 17, If you want proof, try a port watcher with uTorrent running and then try doing it with Azureus or any other torrent program It all started happening when the uTorrent went closed source It is a nice program and lightweight, but I dont care to have tracking crap in any program I use.

Azureus is the best IMO but it can be a hog at times. It is extremely customizable and very powerful though which is what I love about it. I have it running on its own machine and use the web plugin to control it from other machines Wolfmyst Weaksauce.

Utorrent was nice and small , and my first time using azureas proved it was a resource hog, but I don't have those problems with azureus now that I switched back.
