Kensington wifi finder 2.0

Cons: intrusive software - links on desktop, systray, my computer, start menu. Tries to make bluetooth look "built-in" to xp. Overall Review: This device works as advertised. Bluetooth is still new technology, and not all cell phones get it right. I had no end of problems with bluetooth on the razr, but on my new nokia it works like a charm.

Always stays connected, even for hours! Pros: Contrary to the last review I have found the Kensington bluetooth dongle to work well. The Kensington software installed and worked, but was alittle clunky, thus the 4 rating. The trick to get it to work best was to get the Samsung PC Studio software installed, which I downloaded from the Samsung site.

After that that I finally have successfully sync'd my phones contact list with my PC. Cons: The software does require you to re-link with your bluetooth device, really a security setting, but that only is needed if you shut down the software or the connection manually first.

Overall Review: Overall a good bluetooth adapter. I am pleased as it worked right out of the box. As Always Newegg is awesome! Pros: Easy installation, transfered graphics and ringtones well when it would stay connected which was hardly ever but that's the end of the good news. Cons: Would not stay connected. Repeatedly had to re-link to my Motorola phone. Gave me the old blue screen once. More time spent trying to reconnect than linked. Overall Review: Can not return this fast enough.

Kensington needs to stay with RAM. You push the button, and get a reddish blink from the right-hand LED, and the device keeps blinking white for a few moments while it searches for a WiFi signal.

If it finds one, it turns green, and the other two lights go on as the signal gets stronger and stronger I never had more than two green lights, however. I took it around to some known local hotspots, Starbucks and Bryant Park.

At one Starbucks, where I have happily signed up and logged onto the T-Mobile network many times, I got two green lights at the door, but no signal indication elsewhere in the store. In Bryant park, where there is a public WiFi network, I got one or two green lights in some places, nothing elsewhere, though I was able to log on with my C anywhere I tried. This is a product that I feel has a need and a market.

The technology of screening out non-WiFi signals at 2. But this product is not the answer. Pros: Great idea Price I am willing to pay for it Okay form-factor smaller would be nice. At home I have an Access Point The Kensington unit rarely, if ever finds a signal.

Kensington's device is not as sensitive as Wi-Fi network cards we've tested. The WiFi Finder held a moderate-strength connection for just more than feet. The documentation and the support that Kensington provides for the device are adequate. The WiFi Finder comes with a small, page booklet that includes all of the information you need to start sniffing hot spots.

To replace the two 3V lithium coin cell batteries, you need to remove the unit's back cover with a small Phillips screwdriver. The Kensington WiFi Finder comes with a one-year limited warranty. E-mail support and Web-based resources are available anytime, but toll-free, U.

The Good Small; simple to use; built-in keychain loop. Unreliable; won't detect
